A poplin textile sample fabric that is an original roller printed cotton from France produced in the 1870's. The fabric has an ethnic weave style in shades of red, blue, yellow, green and brown on a blue background . Was purchased at auction in Paris and came from the famous Scheurer company who were one of Europe's great textile printers based in Mulhouse in Alsace, France. Retains the original label pertaining to the design and fabric content. The colours of this fabric are as vibrant as the day it was created in the 1870's due to the fact that it has been kept in a sample book away from light for over one hundred years.Excellent condition: cut from the sample book, so selvedged on one side, and cut on the other three. 30" x 20.5"
